A few weeks ago my father and I hiked 28km in the Paria River through the Paria Canyon. Two men and their cameras, and barely another soul to be seen, makes for an almost perfect day.
While the view around every corner was breathtaking, the best part of the day was doing it with my dad, and watching an 86 year old man match me stride for stride, albeit, just a little slower. It is one of those days that gives me a satisfying smile, and one I will never forget.

For we are strangers before you and sojourners…our days on the earth are like a shadow, and without hope. -1 Chronicles 29:15

And having acknowledged that they were strangers and exiles on the earth, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. -Hebrews 11:13-16

“May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view, where something strange and beautiful and more full of wonder waits for you—beyond that next turning of the canyon walls.” -Edward Abbey, Desert Solitaire
